OnCall
Background
OnCall is currently installed at over 40 sites in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. It represents the latest in technology for the computerised support of a counselling and information service with optional case management.
 

It is used by medically-oriented helplines such as the Cancer Societies in Australia, Singapore, Newzealand, Heart Foundation, Diabetes Australia and by social-welfare oriented organisations such as the Australian Drug Foundation, State Carers Associations, Carer Respite Centres and hospitals.

Introduction to OnCall
The OnCall core system provides on-line fully integrated real-time access to the following inter-related database components: 
·       Call and Case records.
·       Person information for callers, clients, patients, carers,
care recipients, contacts, employees & dependants.
·       Community Resource and Referral Services.
·       Publications and Library Information.
·       Events.
·       Waiting Lists.
 
     OnCall’s features include the following:

·         A resource file allows the tailoring of labels on screens and reports to the requirements of the user application domain or language

·         User configuration of screens to set the various data items as visible / mandatory as required by the user application domain.

·         Person searching and matching using phonetic name searching and fuzzy logic.

·         Automatic postcode lookup.

·         Generation of mail-merge files.

·         Generation of form letters with automatic insertion of details from the database for clients.

·         Ability to generate detailed assessments and care plans.

·         Hierarchical topic structures with automatic intelligent searching within the structures.

·         Automatic postcode look-up.

·         Direct access to web pages for services.

·         Direct access to publications over the internet.

·         Direct access to publications stored as word documents.

·         Extensive user controlled ad-hoc reporting.

·         Optional output of reports to screen, printer or Excel.

 
     OnCall provides comprehensive case management with the grouping of calls into cases, case histories, summarised case notes, follow-up, brokerage, assessments, care plans and to-do lists. Brokerage for respite, equipment, etc can be entered in detail with customised purchase order generation and logging of invoice payments. A worker or project based brokerage budgetting facility is also provided for improved control of brokerage funding programs. OnCall provides worker time management including the recording and reporting of follow-up.
   Carer Reporting Module
     The OnCall Carer reporting module provides a reporting facility in line with Commonwealth Government requirement for the generation of a quarterly NRCP minimum data set XML file, and Victorian State DHS requirements for HACC version 2 reporting and for the generation of Quarterly Data Collection of Disability and Mental Health XML files. The Carer reporting module is included with OnCall at no extra cost.
     
   Stock Control Module
     The optional OnCall Stock Control add-on module provides standard inventory control of items such as publications with the following features: 
·      Automatic reduction of stock-on-hand when items are dispatched in response to a call.
·         Recording deliveries of items as received.
·         Recording stock-on-hand quantities at stock-takes.
·         Multiple warehouses and transfers between locations.
·         Set-up of re-order point for items based on historical usage.
·         Reporting of usage, stock-on-hand and items to be re-ordered.

      KBS is continuously developing OnCall to improve performance and provide new features. KBS expects to produce one new major release of OnCall per year containing major enhancements and new features.   These will be distributed at no additional charge to all clients who have current maintenance arrangements in place. Minor upgrades and fixes are distributed as zip files by email. Major releases and new installations are distributed by CD-ROM.
   Implementation Issues
     KBS offers and strongly recommends a combined software installation and training course for new sites. 
     Operational Issues
     OnCall is an application developed in MicroSoft Visual Basic 6.0 and MS Access and MS SQL Server. Experience to date indicates that the MS Access version of OnCall, with appropriate hardware and networking arrangements, will comfortably support up to about 10 concurrent users.   Installations with more than 10 concurrent users should consider using Microsoft SQL Server as the principal database management system.
C   OnCall version 2.8 runs under Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
